State Security Investigates Steward After Nuremberg Protest

20-05-2025

In Nuremberg, the state security has launched an investigation into a steward of a demonstration under suspicion of incitement to hatred. The individual in question made right-wing extremist statements in an interview with a YouTuber on the sidelines of the protest. A police spokesperson confirmed that the video is available on the platform and is currently under review by the public prosecutor's office.

The incident occurred during a rally organized by the group 'Team Menschenrechte' (Team Human Rights), which originated from the Monday demonstrations against Covid-19 measures. However, the group has recently been attracting supporters from various right-wing factions. According to the police, stewards associated with the right-wing extremist spectrum have been deployed at recent demonstrations.

Every Monday, counter-demonstrations take place, organized by groups such as 'Bündnis Nazistopp' (Alliance Stop Nazis) and 'Omas gegen Rechts' (Grandmas Against the Right). The police also report regular protests by left-wing extremists and autonomous groups against the assembly, including sit-in blockades. Past events have seen attacks on police forces and clashes between opposing groups.

Following the revelation of the interview, 'Team Menschenrechte' reportedly expelled the steward. The individual had registered a separate demonstration in the city center under the motto 'Against Left-Wing Extremism' with 50 participants. However, the city decided that he could not act as the assembly leader. This development highlights the ongoing tensions and the complex dynamics surrounding public demonstrations in Nuremberg.
